With a fire in the sky
And tears in my eyes
I ponder my silly tale of discomfort
Over my comfortable surroundings.
Wishing I could throw it all away
Just to see you smile everyday.

Because misery breeds company
I start to question my worth.
"Do I give back to the world enough
To justify my consumption?"
Then reminiscing on my wasted youth
When I could have learned everything
But chose to medicate on alcohol.
Damning myself for not studying harder
The first time around.
Constantly wringing my hands over unfulfilled expectations
Wondering what I could have accomplished
Only if!

Walking back up to the house
I start to write you a love letter.
Thinking, "what’s the point you never reply."
Only something strange happened this time
You wrote back.
As always you were direct and concise
Never to be one to waste words.
"Move straight into a shack with me
And be a whole lot smarter."
And just like that heartache melts away.
Unhappy tears turn into girlish glee.
And the fire rages brighter
As we move closer.
Defying the distances between us
Forever waiting until tomorrow.

(Picture was taken on Sunday October 5, 2003. The emotions are real ,as was that stupendous sky.)

Amazing, isn't it, Sara? Like a mental 'click' of the fingers and gloom turns to joy when we're in love... I like the way you set this up and how it grew to the end.. a recognizable sensation here.. you've written it so well. love, katy xox.
