(Poem about a lover's reflection upon his honeymoon, five years removed.)(Also, upon the lost of his wife...Still remembering that beach nineteen years ago, now.)

Today, as the mundane crescendos with a climatic yawn,
My mind is drawn, by the gravitation of your love,
To an October beach we shared once, five winters gone,
Sugar crystals underfoot, and diamond waves on wings of doves.

I wonder, during some meaningless task, done from habit,
If by force of my will, I can make you think of me just now.
And I truly believe I can, though others laugh about it;
I pull your chin 'till I taste, again, the salted lips and hear the seagulls call.

Your kiss every morning is the spark that ignites me to sanity;
Your kiss every night is the candle that holds and feeds love's flame.
My life, my love, my wife, my one true oasis from everydayness,
Remember now (I will it) that beach from whence my happiness came.
