still working on this

You built me into an angel...
You saw me flying  through life..
Joan Of Arc..
Saving lives..
You put this crown on my head..
that I did not want to wear..
You made me into someone ..
who was never there..
When reality took over your
disillusioned state of mind..
You realized..
these visions of me were merely dreams...
Now in anger you take your sword..
Cut off these wings..
The crown now cuts into my skin..
Suddenly I am free..
Nothing left..
Just years of empty dreams
Now I am
to be..
the no one I began..
Free to be..
Sculpted by anothers idle hand.
Not excepted as I am..
Not loved..
Not respected..
Now just shredded angel wings..
on dirty tear stained floors of dreams..
Wondering how I ever got here..
And what this life means..

Oh boy Erica, what a pleasure to read a poem like this. Maybe it will always be a work in progress, as you reach for the stars and take them in your hand one by one; making beautiful poems for the world to read and enjoy. How I love your poetry! Bill
