I knew this young girl once..
From many years ago..
She was just a little thing..
Maybe three years old..
She was a vibrant little girl..
With an imagination that overflowed..
She said her name was Ginger..
She lived down the road..
She told stories of her Daddy..
that she never knew..
But said he was a handsome man..
And would come to get her soon..
She loved to dance with firefly's..
In the twilight's night
I could hear the echoes of  her laughter...
Through my window
I listened with delight..
She climbed apple trees during the day..
Yes, this child was filled with light..
Then suddenly they started to dim away..
Her eyes lost their mischief..
She stopped coming out to play..
I often wondered what happened
to that little girl
I still saw her from time to time..
Not the same child..
Just the body ...
Not the same mind
One day I called over..
Ginger is that you?
But when I looked into her eyes
I finally knew the truth..
She whispered
Ginger doesn't live here no more..
Her daddy took her away
Now they are living in a far off sunny place.
You can call me Erica..
but I don't have time to play..
I am not allowed to talk with strangers..
If my Mommy sees me talking ........
Please just stay away.
That was the end of Ginger..
Hidden inside this child..
I hope Erica can handle ..
whatever made Ginger have to hide.

most interesting story Erica. one of my brothers walked the same path. On up until he was about 13 he was a jolly cheerful little boy then after that life just left him. On up to this day he's the same way. hugs G
