For someone very special, who waited for me to come around.
I love you!
It was not fair to you, when finding me-
Though instantly we tasted ecstasy...
I came with ties to someone else’s heart
Which proved so difficult to pull apart.
You saw my heart imprisoned by a spell,
A heart, which clearly wasn’t treated well-
But wanted to believe a promise made,
A promise for which night and day I prayed.
The promise you would bring could lead me out
From all my darkest fears and all the doubt
Which was the gift of she who came before.
You helped me see the need to close the door.
I’m not the kind to say “Goodbye” to love,
But when you came, so surly from above-
You gave me the perspective I would need,
If ever from that spell I would be freed.
I’m sorry it has taken so much time,
But I would have a long hard way to climb,
To realize all her promises were lies,
But they explained so well her other guys.
You waited, with the purest heart, your hope,
And God, I sure was feeling like a dope.
It was so clear that I should let her go...
But all I knew was I had loved her so.
You did make one demand, which showed you cared...
The love between us two could not be shared-
You had to be the only one I chose-
My ex had loved another that she knows.
I had to notice all this love from you
Was everything my heart believed was true ,
And you appeared as I was cast aside,
As if for me love would not be denied.
I still wrote poems of how I felt for her-
When poems should be for you, it was over.
You waited, for you knew my love somehow
Would make my poems for you- like this one now.

|John: God always has a way of working things out--but He does it in His time, not ours. Some things are worth waiting for. Excellent!! Susan Sparks|
