There is no love greater than this, than a man lay down his own life for another. For it is through this, that love is truly defined.

I watched with everlasting compassion as you fitfully slept.

Gently I brushed the underlying fear away from your mind,

as the angels of heaven gathered around at your beside and wept..

One more day, I heard a solemn angel say, and then

it will be her time.

With those words burning as hot coals upon my ears,

I offered my all to the angels that hovered near.

Take me I cried, and leave her alone, take me

and leave her behind. For can you not see, there has

to be a mistake, it is not she that is guilty, but me.

The whispering wings fell silent to the ground, as ten

Golden faces turned to stare. I opened my mouth as if

To speak, when angel number one extended his hand to me.

While the others turned quickly around.

“Come” he said in an almost melodious tone, “come with me,

For it is your love that has now set her, free.

No longer is death hers to have but, thine.”

Placing my hand in his, I knew right away the meaning of the verse

“Know when to abase and know when to abound”

For it was this day that I left my love behind, as I took a brighter

Path in search of glory divine.

With ease, the angels and I began our assent from these earthly bounds.

I turned with tears in my eyes and bore witness as you my love began

To arise, from the sickness that had held thee crippled and bent.

I watched as you faded into a tiny blur beneath my feet, as my assent continued

Past the rising sun and over a glorious shining sea to a new home in glory.

Poor little rosebud
why did you go
why did you die
when you loved living so.

I cried.
