I am going to be away for at least five days, starting Sunday 19th. October. I am being admitted to hospital at 2pm that afternoon, assuming they still have a bed for me. Originally I was to have my right knee replaced first and the left some time later. Today I saw the specialist and he has decided to go for a bi-lateral op, as long as I am OK when the right one is done, they will go ahead and do the left one straight away.

Temporary Absence

I’m going away for a short while
hopefully just for a week or two,
It’s going to feel like I’m in exile
away from all the Authorsden crew,
unable to take a peek at you
and all the reviews and blogs that you do.

But I have to go for surgery now
to get myself two replacement knee’s,
I’ll keep myself busy in there, I vow,
writing, I’m working on a novel you see.
With crochet and some knitting too
for a friends new babe, little boy in blue.

On my crutches I’ll come hobbling back
make a beeline for my computer, then
I’ll sort my email and delete the spam
before settling down on Authorsden.
to catch up on all you folks have written,
It’ll take a while, but ‘den-bug’ has bitten.

Hospital is not my favourite place
to spend a ‘holiday’ away from home,
I’m not looking forward to having it done
but I really do need these new knee bones.
So I hope that for me you will pray
For a successful ‘op’ and a very short stay.

Both at the same time. Ouch. I hope and pray that you get through this with a little pain as possible and that it is a resounding success. God bless you. You have a lot of perfect strangers across the internet who is rooting for you. Well, we're not perfect, but . . .
