To tell a friend stories you've sworn to keep

Or talk of thoughts that never should be told,

Will gather to one trouble in a heap

And worry more than any heart can hold.

Id rather face a lion in his lair

Than risk what foolish pride considers treasure

For pride will force a soul to risk a dare

No gambler or casino  e'er  would wager

The tongue that wont be held but loves to prate,

Gossip and boast, its ego to advance,

With self-promotion serving as the bait,

Will lure a man to play such Games Of Chance.

"Loose tongues" certainly can cause lots of problems. That's one of the disadvantages of working with lots of people. The gossip runs away with itself.

:) Sheesh, that Katy, she always reads a poem's heart so well, then leaves nothing for anyone else to say!! Just kidding, what I meant was, I echo Katy, Londis, this is one sweet read in its candence, and a great lesson couched with wisdom's learned sight.

Applause... Applause.. Standing O to you, dear Lonny! You have written something irrefutable, with style as bold as your subject, daring the reader to search for signs of recognition. I value nothing higher than trust. To trust and be trusted is the key to everything. Beautifully written. katy xox.
