A Heart Is But An Ocean

Another write from August of 2003

Where will the tides take us,
As we drift upon them with
Emotions that run so very deep,
Much like the ocean’s own depth
Or so it seems. This heart cries
Out to the heavens above, in hopes
That these moments do not fade,
For within the heart resides something
So grand! I weep tears of joy, just
Knowing that there is someone out
There who can shed such light upon me.
Let me swim in that ocean which is
Thy heart, for mine is parched and needs
To grow once more with love. Am I dreaming?
Is this real or just some distant memory
From some other time, some other place …
I do not care! For these emotions I do hold dear.
Dare I speak those fateful words, for I fear that
If I should, all this will come crumbling
Down! But, know this, those words do
Attempt to break their bonds and wish to
Spill from these lips that murmur thy name.
Lingering, whispering, dreaming and wanting
What grows within me to live more
Each and every day. Sometimes, I can only
Expose what dwells within me, through prose.
