"The Sun"
By Samuel E. Stone

A darken sky covered the earth,
casting mystical shadows upon the ground,
the end of a day offsprings a new birth,
for out of the darkness the light is found.

It’s radiance glowing, burning in the night,
shimmering rays transcending the dawn of day,
a thrilling creation generated from the light,
an energy source beyond measure controls the way.

A magnificent display of nature’s wonder,
profoundly exclaiming to all that it has risen,
mightier than the wind or even the thunder,
reflective beams forming the ultimate prism.

The center of the universe, suspended in space,
close enough to touch the warmth of the heat,
painting the sky with the elegance of satin and lace,
scenic beauty a marvel to even the elite.

Worshiped in primitive times it remains a mystery,
beyond comprehension lighting the sky,
the focus of mankind throughout history,
for without the glorious sun we would but die.

I can imagine life in a capsule, were it not for the sun. I like the way you describe it emerging from darkness (also needed, to rest) and then incorporated its significance both physical and metaphysical. Well written. Glad I found your site.
