We take a step, we touch. . . .

Extend your right hand.
Good.
Extend your left hand.
Good.
Now close your eyes.
Close your eyes.
Close your eyes, okay?
Good.
Something's in your hand.
Feel it.  Squeeze it.
Again.  Again.
Again.
Good.
Now feel this part.
Now feel this part.
What do you think this is?
How does it feel?
What is it called?
Feel it one more time.
Know the word, you know.

Name.  Tell me the name.
Want a little help?
Kuh.
Kuh.
Starts with kuh.
Give you another hint.
Drink from a. . .cup!
Okaaaaaaay.

Every waking moment
we take it all for granted
is a waste.

Brava!

This past May, my best friend's daughter was in a near-fatal car accident and lay in a coma for five weeks with many external injuries, as well as, internal injuries and closed-head trauma. We floundered to help her - it's such a helpless situation - but we never gave up hope. We watched, we waited, and we patiently encouraged her with baby steps every day. In retrospect, it was a short recovery, by comparison to some. Today, she's walking and talking... and spending time with her two-year-old daughter. Things are not as they "were", but prayers were answered. I hope I never take things for granted again. Thanks for the write, Pea J!

Hugs,
Tami
