I really thought I was going thru a "writers block" of late, but apparently not...seems to come and go, my talents herein...ED

“Rain on the Roof”

Living in a motor home is different than that of a house,

All manner of sounds can be heard,

Groaning of on board tanks,

Moaning of pipes.

Converters/inverters humming to a tune of their own making,

But the sounds of Nature are more prevalent and more pronounced as well,

They are the sounds of birds chirping just outside,

Of chipmunks and squirrels scurrying up and over the motor home.

But I think the most beautiful sound is that of rain on the roof,

A house is insulated and sound proofed enough that the sound of rain is rarely heard,

Unless it is heard beating against a window pane,

A beautiful sound, yes, but not as nice as a million needles hitting the roof,

Creating a musical rendition of Natures own choosing,

A classical musical sound to put one to sleep,

To relax too, to meditate too, to Naturally relieve stress.

So many things we miss when we move into a house,

We miss the ability to hear rain & snow,

We feel we must be removed from the Natural world,

So much so that we miss all the beautiful sounds,

Just close your eyes and listen,

Listen to the beauty of Nature…

Thanks for the vivid description of what it's like, I have been thinking lately about buying an RV and wondered what it would be like to spend time in one! This piece painted a good positive picture! Thanks!

We should all "Stop & smell the roses"--the days still have 24 hours each. You're right, Ed, nature has the most beautiful sounds if only we would listen . . . How true for other things as well. Wonderful! (and guess what, it's raining . . . )
