white cloth robe.

i'm going to wash you
right out of my hair,
silly exercise that it is,
like saying good bye to you,
all the time readying myself
for the next hello.

wash in, wash out,
you are in and under my skin
as i grab for bottles of
strawberry shampoo
and floral cream rinse,
tea tree body scrubs
and baby oil.

splashing on cologne
applying mascara and liner,
a dust of color on my lids
all that sparkle and shine,
something that will render
my lips purple as a plum.

i'd rather be naked,
awash in your flesh,
lips bruised from kissing,
eyes dancing and bright,
my body beholding, blushed
by love's war paint;
yes, i like it best!

revlon and lancome,
they can try but fail
as nothing bedazzles me
the way that you do,
my efforts in ill mask
of what's real.
