Gently leaves sway,
some touched with gray
in splendor autumn falls.
Brass leaves cart, wheeling,
(you know that feeling
head-over-heels, playing)
mid-air with scarlet hues,
golden specks etched. The views
are spectacular when autumn sheds,
closes shades, lays down to sleep;
without a whimper ... nary a peep.

Leaves lay lives down
yet they never frown
as Mother Nature calls.
Orange shades smile, peeking,
children they're seeking,
to hear their squealing.
It's a mood to walk, talk,
in the chill some will balk.
Precious colors swirl turning our heads.
The trees will shiver and sleep
in spring the leaves come ... without a peep.

Sunlight fades, dies
as rain falls disguised
sometimes in heavy squalls.
Leaves crunch underfoot
where the trees take root;
as mulch they are hooked.
Nothing lives forever
though some try, endeavor.
Too many lay heads in others' beds
then toss about, can't sleep.
Autumn falls ... silently, doesn't peep.

Beautiful writing.
I forget how nature heals, but I've been getting some reminders.
Thank you.

I love Fall almost as much as I love Winter! You have captured its appeal beautifully. Come see my "Leaves" poem. I think you'd like it.
