Here is a tribute not only to good music but to the particular music which is all American.

I didn't know what I was doing
It was all fun and laughter
I didn't know what I was moving,
And so I did not even bother.

But I am a Jazz Junkie
And I live on the stuff each day
Don't want no help today
I just love being a Jazz Junkie

There isn't no holes in me
My act is as clean as it can be
And just before I hear jazz
I am as good as I can be.

I don't shuffle not even jive
I know that's not cool
I don't go wild but stay alive
Cause I ain't no body's fool.

My head is screwed on tight
And mind, it acts all right
Cause I am clean and clean and clean
And you can't tell the way I lean.

After reviewing one of my poems, I know about you now; I couldn't resist clicking on this one, as I've been a jazz junkie for half my life going back to the late 60's--then I started playing piano in 1971 (no jazz yet) and today, I claim at least a modicum of knowledge of jazz piano. Thanks for this tribute to America's most special music and the pioneers that created it against the tide of culture.

Lovely. Bop all night in the wild crazy heat of jazz. Such a beautiful music the most like poetry ive ever heard. It is pure exuberance in form

My Dad loves listening to Jazz. Your mellow rhythms transport me to that place I want to be.

The rhythm of this piece reminds me of reading Langston.

Know what I like about all of your poetry thus (yes, THUS) far? It's pure. Everything you write is honest and never forced. This is another shining example.
