Remember the soldiers who sleep far away
In countries quite far from the U. S. of A.
Bodies lay cold
From actions bold
Their convictions let America’s flag sway
They laid down in sickness; fell down in red pools
Sometimes even bare hands became useful tools
Pay attention
At their mention
Reminisce their service . . . they are our ‘jewels’
Freedom is a gift that they bestowed on us
Honor veterans who have earned all our trust
Let the flag wave
For all they gave
Be grateful to the living for their service
Overcoming difficulties together
Democracy is everyone’s endeavor
The U.S.A.
Stands proudly today
As one nation, under God, joined forever
thanks to the jewels who serve

We must all give Thanks for our Jewels! Thank you Sandra for this beautiful heartfelt write for our Men and Women serving in our Armed Forces. Without their bravery now and in the past and future as well, we would be in deep trouble. This is a gem! Lisa
