Susan, I decided to take you up your suggestion, and I'm writing about my husband.

My very
best worldly
friend is my
"Dear Husband"
of more than
thirty-one
years. He is the love of my life. Of course,
He's not perfect.  He's only a man, but he has
been my comfort zone, my safe haven through
all the storms  that life has brought. He's been there

through   sickness, grief, and poverty.  We shared all
 life had       to offer.
He helped me carry the  loads and
to stand
against all the storms.  If God        were to take him    home, I would surely miss him.     Could
I live on     without him?  I
know it would       crush
my heart     and I would morn him every      day
that
I lingered   on.  He would be in my thoughts   every moment.  I would miss his touch, warmth, smile,
and his  presence.  My heart would  ache
every instant that I lived passed
his demise.  How could I go on
without him?  I really don't know
if I could.  I adore him with all
my heart.  He's    my soul mate.
Oh Lord, I pray,     if You must,
take both of us.      That we may
walk hand in         hand together
into Your realm       and dimension.
May we see Your     face jointly.  I
don't want to con-     front this world
alone.  Though if       you must take
us separate, give        us the strength
and show us how         to go on alone
with our faith             in You intact
and with Your           love and care
buried deep                within our
     souls.  So                  we may live
on with the              faith that we will
see each other       again and will be
together and          live on in peace.
I love you Lord,    but I know him
      as
flesh of my flesh.    Yet, You're in my soul

Patricia, this is indeed truly beautiful as you are. Yes, he may be worldly, but he is very worthy of the love and devotion that you show to him. Just keep right on lovin' him for who he really is; I'm sure God will do the same, and both of you will have a positive influence on him.
