jigsaw sky

you say i stole from you
and if so, may i ask
where is it that i hid
this cloud formation,
this dream you had,
of happily ever afters?

beyond our romantic,
purely ridiculous notions,
lies our unique perspective
on our futures taking shape,
yours looking like a rabbit,
mine a sleeping dog lying.

i could no more steal
the clouds from the sky
than i could the songs
that live in your heart,
for it is merely clotted anger
that has stolen your voice.

a no-win, this situation,
for who am i to say
that given the right timing
you too will find the pieces
to create the bigger picture
in the shape of your dreams.

So happy I came back to this place to read the poetry I so longed for. Someday we should lay in the tall grass and use our child-like imaginations as the clouds sil past in the deep blueness of the sky.

If we can hold onto our dreams, even when we're confused about who we really are, then we can make progress. I like this attitude. Thanks, Lisa.

"clotted anger"...what a line! wish i'd thought of it! *BRAVA!*

I really like this a lot, Anne.
I do have one tiny problem, though, I admit, and it's mine - I strenuously object to small 'i'. ;)
