"Morning has broken like the first morning,Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for them singing, praise for the morning,
praise for them springing, fresh from the world."..........Cat Stevens

enjoying my breakfast
of caffeine and nicotine
outside on the step
waiting on that sun ray
that would creep over the
distant range
and warm the stoop
I was sitting on
I pulled my sweatshirt
down over my knees
taking in the view

the morning sound
so many song birds
each so beautiful
each so special
each was something I love
all their sound blending together
they are carefree
waiting for the sun
just like me
waiting for the sun
knowing it arrives when it does

that ray of sun, knows this girl
and how it warms my heart
and there is nothing
that loves me more
or fills my soul with light
the ever companion
of life giving substance
even on cloud filled days
i feel it move across the grass
blazing all in its path to reach me
and slowly radiate up my legs
