There was a time when everything mattered
When we discussed a topic until we wore it out
Never coming to any conclusion
But completely happy with ourselves for caring
We talked about love and hate and world peace
About abortion and marriage and all in between
We worried about war and poverty
The space program and where it was going
We didnít know about the ozone yet
Or we would have discussed that too
Point is, we may have over discussed
Over intellectualized (we thought)
Maybe we just plain talked a subject to death
But damn, did we communicate
Now, well, we have trouble talking about the weather
We donít agreeÖwe just donít discuss it
Keeping the peace are we? Making life easier
Or are we just giving up, just getting by

Well done, Sue, well done but sad. All those things were discussions, not communication: talking about personal needs and the other discovering how to meet those need-- that's communciation. ~~Bonnie Q
