Egad! I’ve done it again,
this fudge looks kind of funny,
and I’ve got to run!
Dang it, let me see that recipe,
handwritten, smudged, practically
pulled from a binder falling apart!
Shouldn’t have put Jewel on so loud,
but, god, her voice, so fudgily warm…
It makes all the stirring achingly worthwhile!
Sugar, salt, butter, here it is!
Not a whole can of evaporated milk,
just 2/3 cup!
(…Idiot…)
I’ve got to sharpen the wording here,
but I can’t right now, poured out the sludge,
I’ll do it later, meeting a friend for lunch!

I wouldn't tinker too much with it. It's good and raw. Oh... my! have I been there and done just that! Good poem, Erin.

| The secret to good fudge is the cooling of it, first after you bring it to a slow boil you must then test it every other minute to make sure that you do not scald the sugar, drop a bit in cold water if it turns solid, it's done. Then the fun, you take a wooden spoon and for what seems like the rest of your life you whip that sucker, filling it with air, until it appears almost fluffy, then spread onto a marble slab until it hardens. Now go make another batch and send me some. Loved your poem. |

Nice 'effort', Erin!
Frustration indeed. I've never made a success of it. (Fudge, I mean).
Only other people make good fudge, is what I've learned.
I'm going back to Chattanooga. Thanks for the tip, Larry.

| If your fudge doesn't make it, try a place in Chattanooga. Great, rich, tempting stuff. Maybe it's on the net. Thanks, Erin. |
