Trickster

He hides in the shadows,
Trickster,
Bringer of madness,
Shape changer,
His ego makes him laugh out loud,
He hands you dreams,
Then takes them away,
His game a mystery,
As is his name,
But his tales are told,
By the very old,
Trickster they say,
A demon in disguise,
Lies on his lips,
He blinds your eyes,
To the truth and beauty,
All around you,
Takes your soul,
Giving nothing in return...

See him with an old woman’s eyes,
See his ragged coat,
See through his sweet disguise-
Do not believe his promises,

Know this,
The trickster always lies...

Excellent work, Retta. Native American folklore is fascinating, with so many truths to ponder. You've captured an aspect of Coyote, the trickster succinctly and well.
Best regards,

"Trickster"... It seems to me that Pan wakes You up everyday, then she calls Erato to have some ambrosias with You.

Your progressive inspiration is calling the attention of important people of the literary industry.

This "Trickster" is another masterpiece for the masters' collection.

It has been an honor to visit Your Den, and a privilege to read Your profound poetry.

But Retta, you forget the trickster is also the ultimate teacher! His wisdom is ageless and although he may also be a shape-shifter and sometimes evil, he teaches valuable lessons without which we'd be as lost as the majority of folks.
