Outside my train window there were shopping carts.
A gruel image of the homeless too tired for life’s problems Finding liquor on street corners; wrapping bottles in bags
I see a sad remembrance of giving up. Crying with pity as sometimes we all want to do when life gets rough and we want the easy way out
I still see the markings on paint-washed fences hiding broken down cars with littered walkways amongst old couches now used by survivors
I am quiet in my thoughts as I remember my comfort and the feeling of warmth when I paid my bill
It’s time to leave this world when we have nothing but memories strapped like nooses in sorrow around heads that gave up
I still write again though thank my feelings for my ability to see a world with mixed up feelings
