“Vulnerable, to Say the Least”

I freely admit to being vulnerable,

I can be hurt by those who wish,

If cry I must, I do so willingly,

If pain I must feel, I do so,

    But not so willingly.

If disabled I am,

By someone seeking to injure,

I allow them, as they know not what they do,

This must be the way Abel,

Of the brothers Cain & Abel,

Felt when his brother of many years,

Did to him something totally unstable.

To be honest, if I was not to enable,

These others that seek to inflict injury,

It would be that I was a cold corpse,

         Lying on a table.

And this dear reader,

Is nothing if not a fable…
