Think Me Bound

copyright 1990 Bonita M Quesinberry, R.C.

Life goes 'round and 'round and 'round,
sometimes cruelly flinging me to the ground;
then something inner pulls me upright,
and, the Son shines forth, glistening bright.
Oh, life's bitter darkness, you cannot hide
from His light!

So, cast me down, toss me around;
and, if you can, grind me into the ground.
Try as you will, try as you may, a spark
still is found.
For Christ shines forth and tenderly
removes your blight,
restores my soul and lovingly gives me sight!

Oh, yes, in your grasp you may think me bound,
even rending my soul with your awesome sound;
even then, the Son shines forth,
a battle to fight.
He will rend your spirit and leave you contrite.
Oh, prince of darkness, you cannot begin
to stand within His light!
