I walk alone
In the darkness
Of a back alley
With its garbage
Cans, junk, and
Garbage
Strewn all over
The dead leaves
Of this year
Which will soon be over.

I walk alone
Under grey skies.
Clouds and smoke
Filter the lights
Of the city with
Its cars and people,
Lonely souls in a world
Running away from them.

I walk alone
Searching the dark
For a hidden hope,
Groping in vain
For some unseen link
With certainty.

In the darkness
Of daily existence
Shines a light,
A God-given hope.
Love with its warmth
Gives strength,
And you
Are my love.

"With its garbage
Cans, junk, and
Garbage"

After reading the first stanza it seemed to be as if you had mistakenly used the word garbage twice. Upon reading the stanza again I realized that the first 'garbage' refers to garbage cans. Why then not have 'cans' on the same line as the first 'garbage'?

An emotional write as usual. You tell a moving story and make us feel every word. And you leave us with hope at the end of the piece. You also leave our minds wondering/wandering. Brilliant!

I really do like this "solitary I'ness" type of view both agonizing in it's emotional simplicity and perplexing in who the hidden subjects are of your thoughts. Already, I see you are superb with the "one word title genre" as I call it. I didn't check you site to see if you have a book, but when you do, it's going to be brilliantly poignant (sp?) But we'll need the photos.

Beautiful poem.
You might be alone in your heart but you definitely are not alone in reality. You have your words to keep you company. You also have lots of people who care about you. All you have to do is read your reviews and you know this with certainty.

Reminds me of the Reverend Mr. Black ... right up to the end: then it becomes something else entirely. I think the last stanza should begin with something like "suddenly a light appears" or some kind of transitional phrase to lead into the last stanza.
