Kingbird I Bow Before You
By Handsum-Hart

A great architect you are
With flakes of cotton
Horsehairs and fibrous roots
Comfy is the home you build

You wear no crown
Yet a regal king you are
And proudly display
Your throat of white

Pugnacious and fearless
Big birds even hawks you harass
As if you were Mike Tyson
A little bully-bird you are

Aerial acrobatics
You perform with ease
And zigzag about in blind rage
But flutter softly when in descend

And without clap or cheer
Nor honor or pay
Graciously you bestow glory
On the early hours of day

With distinct voice
Of cheerful chirp, sweeter than
The sounds of Beethoven
Kingbird I bow before you

2003 Ronald Howard Moman
