JESUS/SANTA

Baby Jesus was born on this glorious day
Santa is busy loading up his sleigh.
Jesus is wrapped in swatling clothes,
Santa is dressed in red from head to toes.

Jesus is visited by the shepherds and their flock,
Santa will be visiting all the kids on every block.
Jesus is kept warm by the breath of the lambs.
Santa will be left cookies, milk and jams.

Jesu soon will be praised by 3 kings.
Bringing gifts of frankensence and murr.
Santa will leave presents for all girls and boys,
As fast as he comes, he will leave in a blurr.

On Christmas we celebrate the birth of a king.
The children await Santa and the goodies he will bring.
We decorate our homes with trees, garland and lights.
Large images of Santa and reindeer light up the nights.

Have we forgot the real meaning of this holy day ?
We should all try to bring it back, let us pray !

I see you've had this poem on for quite a while, but the message is still applicable. Excellent comparisons between Santa and Jesus, the Real Reason for the Season.
I especially like your last line.

Merry Christmas, 2006

..yes Ron you're quite right..though if it makes you feel any better santa was derived from the words Santa klaus...St. Nicholas etc. he, being a bishop, wore red..hence the color red...St Nick's day is celebrated on Dec.6 ..he was a kindly bishop gifting the poor in his diocese with gifts for Christmas..thus promoting love of one's neighbour etc.

great write..thankyou

It's too late to remove Santa Claus from Christmas. I agree that the meaning of Christmas should be stressed, however. Still and all, many people celebrate Christmas for many reasons. It has become a holiday for all the world, just as English has become almost Universal around the world.
