This is very, very real scene-painting, Jeff, and it is agonizing to read. Too, the vulnerability of the voice used in the narrative is emotionally rivetting -- it DEMANDS that the reader pay attention to each word, to think about each phrase! AWESOME WORK!

This held me to the end. Absolutely fine work Jeff. I like how you roll them off the cuff like this. That is the true mark of a poet.

The title grabbed me and the words ached like a hungry baby.

Excellent work. Probably one of my new favorites of yours.

Thank You,

Heartbreaking, Jeff! I know someone
who could be described the same way,
and I hurt as you do:
" the wind, you could never
be held very long." I suppose a lot
of us poets have known someone like that
at one time or another.
Keep writing these beautiful
