For my son Kenny Jay, and for his healing from what he thought was something real that was taken for granted, and caused him great heartache.
|
we are all born so innocent,
so full of trust and belief
yet as we grow ever older
true love thought as whole now is fractured with grief
grief can come in many forms--
more ways than the law allows
and there are those who have taken our trust
and pretended to keep precious vows
a vow to have, and a vow to hold--
a promise to God up above
and too many times we allow fear and hate
to strangle what one thought was love.
my tears cannot flush away memories so warm
my embrace can’t replace your dispute
forgiveness is foreign to love believed sovereign
you have proved you cannot tell the truth
freely pretending
freely offending
freely you never looked twice
for his free will was bound
by the most frightful sound
of your arrogant,
cold-blooded vice
