Road Salt (Wings from Ashes, 2)
by Linda Nelson

There's nothing wrong with getting high, or so Carol and Karla felt in this Teen Contemporary, that is until Rod got high on Bath Salts. ..

We're made of the earth;
God made us that way.
It's so apparent to me
In each brand new day.
The love in our hearts
Can burn like a fire
Providing us fuel
For our every desire.
Water runs through us,
Giving us our life.
It can bring warm comfort
Or cut like a knife.
The green of the earth
Flows through our veins.
She holds many cures
For our ailings and pains.
The air that we breathe
Is made by the trees;
The one thing in this world
That comes without fees.
My heart soars on wings
Which are colored so bright.
An airy rainbow aflutter
To carry me into the light.
We must embrace the earth
And know we are one,
For that's where we return
Once this short life is done.

The crescent moon you see from your window is that of Mother Gaia, smiling (as am I) as this beautiful write.
