To Karen Vidra, who inspired this poem..... |
|
|
A light shone down from up above
filling the darkness with the illumination of love.
A great voice, that wasn’t heard out loud,
said things great and small out of a cosmic cloud.
It seems the Ancient One isn’t happy with all the fuss.
The Ancient One thinks we want more than is good for us.
Rushing here and rushing there...
forgetting each other and not giving each other tender care.
Slow down, smell the roses and lay in the snow...
make snow angels, let the inner child grow.
Stop asking for more than you could ever need.
Stop taking advantage of others and stop the greed.
Let others go first for a change.
Stop fighting - now wouldn’t that be strange?
Let’s all go on vacation together.
No worries, no problems...let’s just enjoy each other.
I know this sounds a little like “Make Love not War”.
But, really, let’s think about what Life is really for.
It isn’t to rush around without taking any time
to spend with the ones you love - that is a crime.
Life is meant to be a joy and a pleasure.
Of course life without some work would be too much leisure.
But all work and no play makes, as the saying does say,
a very dull person who can’t even begin to “seize the day”.

Silver, everything and everybody is in a hurry. With nowhere to go. They just try to keep up with the rest. Life could be so much more enjoyable if we would only slow down long enough to acknowledge it for what it deserves.
Good write and I know Karen will love it! Lisa |
