It is no so much for the seeking of knowledge...
that I went away from home to college.
I went because my parents said I should.
I lasted a couple of semesters because I could.

Knowledge has always been important to me,
but I never liked to be told what to read or see.
After thirteen years of public schools,
I was tired of attending class and listening to rules.

I thought I could do better out in the wide wide world.
I would stake my own claim, let my own flag be unfurled.
Life isn’t easy when you don’t have a degree,
but again I never let anything like that stop me.

I went to work at a Fast Food Establishment as a fry cook.
In between that, I read alot and devoured each book.
I taught myself how to do many a thing.
I never craved for children or a wedding ring.

Years passed by and I had become a manager.
I made great money but to life I was a stranger.
This is when my poem ‘Apart from Life’ came in
I realized that something was missing and then...

I went out and found what I wanted to find.
There is alot of history there that I will not rewind.
For there were alot of roads I took
before I found it with just one look.

Marriage and family still weren’t my Holy Grail.
I still wasn’t pining for Orange Blossoms and a veil.
I simply needed one man to be beside me forever...
one who at the words “I Love You” wasn’t running for cover.

For the man that I found, marriage was important and a desire.
I now admit that marriage is wonderful and has alot to admire.
The closeness of a union and the total committment to each other
is a couple of the wonders that you get from your spouse not a lover.

Yet, here I am back almost to the start...
taking classes again and listening to my heart.
I am following a pathway I would have never foreseen...
and remembering the past person that I have been.

very nice

sometimes when we aren't looking for something great, it pops up and smacks us in the face and we love it

does that make us s& m freaks?

The story never told by Linda Grover

This is a biography about an abusive childhood, which led me to want to become a foster parent, so that I would be able to help other abused children...
