Self pity again, so please bear with me...

Please Understand…

Of late there have been some poems,

That are more self-pity than self-help,

For this I truly apologize,

As my anti-depressants have run out,

And the money to buy a refill is not there,

So for now I just sit here and pout,

And see myself as I truly am,

Inside this facade of a humorous guy…

So much easier to put on the face of a clown,

To go for a ride with Rufuz down,

To the shore and listen to the sound,

Of the ocean telling me not to pound,

Constantly on rock jetty where I resound…

I have other meds, which I can take in place,

Of the anti-depressants that put on my face,

A smile, of sorts, and bring to my case,

Some better feelings with regards my recent space,

Think Rufuz & I need to take a ride to that of my birthplace,

To walk the beach in the extreme cold,

Where no one else is willing to tread,

As cold does chase,

The tourists off the beach, and not trace,

Will be left of their coming or going…                          (ed)

there's nothing like cold air whipping at one's cheeks
to put the blush back in them

that's a good rememdy along with a hot cocoa when you return home

down with the prescription blues
a poet's nemisis

They say humor is the best medicine Ed and I believe it and you guys that make me laugh on here help me a lot...yet I believe the meds are very important...after I lost my son I was on an antidepressant...a mild one but it really helped me...How sad that our govt doesn't make it easier on some people with that area..I am sorry for that...I hope the beach walk helps you some...blessings to you....I always enjoy your rants and raves and humor....keep writing...floria

Sometimes the best time to visit a beach is when the tourist are gone I would suspect. I know thats how I felt about some mountains areas I liked to visit. :-)

I agree with Abdi-Noor Mohamed.

Humor is often the best medicine, Ed. Take that ride and walk with Rufuz, suck in that cold air, then write some more.

Ed, I understand you very well. Anti-depressants do work only for a while but your inner feelings as a true human being would give you pleasure far more better than what drugs can offer.
