There's a wild hideous beast
That dwells
Within my mind
Knows my innocence.

In my heart and soul
Resides a gentle lamb
Within my heart
Is the passion that burns
Eternally for you.

Within my soul,
I await ecstasies unknown
For you are my true love
Keeper of the beast within
When you're in my arms,
The beast, stays incarcerated.

Scalars, theologians and hunters
Of renowned reputations
Pray for my soul
They are sound of mind,
And pure of heart.

They warn others
Of the beast
That walks upright
On the nights, of the full moon.

The hunters
World wide trophy winners all
In the sport of shooting.

Gathered to plot my destruction
with modern weapons
And ammunition
Laden with silver nitrate
To assure my total demise.

I am tire and weary
As I write this
My final testament
I flicker the lights out
Before retiring.

In the darkness
What I see, from my reflection
In the mirror
Are red hideous , blood shot eyes
As they blink, before my doom.

My goodness, William.. this is proof that when we writers allow our imaginations to run free, we become very readable, indeed! In the world of poetry, there are no rules, no fences... this is really cool! katy xox.

So definitively said, William, and so true: for we have the power within to keep the beast at bay, powerless in all his efforts to destroy. As Floria said, great imagery, great writing. ~~Bonnie Q
