This is another poem from my book, "Acorns of Love and Wisdom". I have spent countless hours in the forests and in nature. I adore all things living and always felt at home as another living thing around them. My love and I also did a lot of camping and few things are more beautiful than camping on a lake or stream when the natural world awakens. Also included is one of my illustrations that appears in the book, which is of a squirrell. Thanks for sharing.

The limbs
Reaching skyward
Release their hold
On one small leaf
And nature's red-gold glider
Descends in spirals
and flutters
and swoops
Until it comes to rest
Upon the ground
And it is followed
by countless thousands
Of multi-colored friends

The early morning sun
Filters through
The leaf ridden stillness
And explodes in the dew
Which clings to the moss
So that all that reaches our eyes
are many-hued rainbows.
And sparkles
And joins with the mist
In painting the sky
For our eyes

And the breeze comes
To wisp away the mist
And its warmth
Drinks up the dew
The forest seems to yawn
And stretch
And awaken
A thousand small noises
Begin at once
And we can hear the rustling
Of creatures
In the colored foliage
Which has fallen from the trees

The shadows of birds
As they fly past
Flit across our faces
And we can hear them calling
To one another
In their happiness of life.
And a squirrel
Races through the branches
In the shadows above our heads
Then stops
And remains so still
We cannot see him because
The shadows
Play tricks with our eyes

And we are part of the forest
With leaves in our hair
And the sun-speckled shadows
Dancing on our bodies
Our bed is of leaves and moss
And our togetherness
Is a beauty among the beauties
Of the forest
As we are of one mind
One body
And one soul
And we are together

What a beautiful picture you paint of being in harmony with mother earth! I especially like this image:

"And we are part of the forest
With leaves in our hair
And the sun-speckled shadows
Dancing on our bodies"

Great writing
