~ Slowly Dying ~

Now that you're gone
from my life,
I wonder how I will
move on without you...

With you no longer
standing at my side,
I just feel as though
there's no me without you...

I must somehow accept
that you love me no more.
But how can I without
falling apart?

Never had I been crushed
like this before.
For shattered pieces are
all that's left of my heart...

There is nothing that
I could say or do,
To make you somehow
change your mind...

For you have already
found someone new.
I'm left in the cold
Feeling as though my heart
"Is Slowly Dying."

Can there be any more helpless and hopeless feeling than unreturned love? And, yet, these are the things that build the artististic soul. May many wonderous things yet come your way.

It's sad when we have to go through these heartaches, aren't they Trixie? But, on the positive side, look what beautiful poetry comes from such pain. I've written many poems about losing love and the pain that comes from it, but after the writing, there is such a feeling of release and objectivity. It helps to put things in perspective. At least this is how it feels for me.
Lovely writing, Trixie.
