Those who have heard of Moose Factory have heard of the Polar Bear Express, the tourist train. But the bread and butter train is the mixed train--

This poem has been cooking for a long time it is still in progress

Three days a week
I make the journey South;
three days a week
I run back north again....

I am the Little Bear,
The Cochrane Crawler,
Moosonee Mixed, the freight:
Mixed train to James Bay.

From Cochrane thru the bush
to Island Falls, Fraserdale,
Coral Rapids, Moose River Crossing
then on down north to Moosonee

I haul lumber and machinery,
food and fuel down to the Bay:
People up and down, people
dropped and picked up in the bush

Lifeline to a lonely land, me.
Through snow and forest fire
summer heat and sub-Arctic cold
down to the northern sea go I.

I am the Little Bear,
The Cochrane Crawler,
Moosonee Mixed, The Freight:
Mixed train to James Bay.

Three days a week
I make the journey South;
three days a week
I run back north again...
