American Dream

Power ball, lotteries, sue the clothes

Off someone’s back

Take a second, third job even if it kills you

You family, friends, marriage

Gotta get rich quick

Damn Jones’ have an SUV

Jerry Springer’s on TV

Montel Williams close behind

Kings of Reality exploiting trash…

An industrial sized box of Tide,

Properly applied

Might bring needed sanity.

Let’s define, Mr. MacLuhan

The American Dream

Wal-Mart girls pose in Playboy

As if honest work’s not enough

Paris Hilton, claim to fame

Is a daddy richer than God

Presumes to show us what’s real

In a life made for magazines

Go back to bleaching blonde

And turning cocaine tricks, please.

Anything for a quick-earned buck

Can’t have that, at least try this

Grab yourself some cheap, unearned luck.

Once upon a time, before marketing

Was the medium to message

There was an American Dream

I wouldn't mind having some money but I want to keep my own lifestyle...I enjoy the peace and quiet of the nearest neighbor being a mile away!
