All Little Deaths

Sighs are taken with us
into that darkest of night
and finds what is longed for
during this awkward time
called life
but sorrow's memories linger
as if an afterthought
of despair and an ocean filled with
remains and the salt of tears
so we walk on
into this light
never really knowing
if life was lived or not
wearing time's experience
which taught us how to feel
and leaving only questions
to Death's eternal weeping
heard by those already gone
and all who have yet to serve
but feeling with such empathy
all little deaths in life.
