At the peak of war in Mogadishu, Somalia, two lovers lost each other but later met under a dramatic circumstance. This poem is based on the story of my film: Of War and Love

A single look led her to infatuation
Jamila fell in love with Jamal
Her eyes glowed with fire of love
Jamal was simply at the receiving end

They planned to marry each other
But the sky rained blood
A civil war broke out
Bullets separated them

A green line divided the city
Though not their hearts and souls
She, on this side. He, on the other.
Communication was cut off

Bad news shocked Jamila to her knees
Jamal became an obituary news. A statistic
She crossed the line with concealed identity
Target: Jamal’s grave to pay last respect

His death was a great misinformation
He was ambushed but not killed
Though thugs counted him as a dead
Jamal was alive but seriously bleeding

A girl, Osob, dragged him to her hut
She gave him comfort and stability
She became his God-sent nurse
Jamila drew closer with hell of updates

Love broke out between Osob and Jamal
A saint came to officiate marriage
Suddenly a big Bang silenced the crowd
Jamila stood erected at the door like a statue of glory

Jamal got entangled with a moral Dilemma
One girl saved him. The other loved him
Which one has more weight than the other?
Be the judge. Make peace between the girls.
