Awaken from my dream
By lamenting, on a cold night
I hear crying
Slowly I make my way
Towards a crowded room.

People are stirring
Back and forth
Tears everywhere
My wife was tending
My grandchildren
I am happy, they are all right.

My sons carried on
with sad faces
Inside more people
were crying
As if someone was dying.

My daughter sat at the edge
Of a bed
Crying hysterically
Needing comfort.

Her husband was busy
With my grand daughters
I yelled
Please!
"Someone comfort my daughter."

She looked, in my direction
Ran towards me, with open arms
I opened mine, to embrace her
To hold her tight, comfort her
Yet something strange occurred
She ran through me
Past me.

Leaving within me
An icy cold chill
While embracing the air
I looked towards the bed
As I bow my head
There is nothing
Further, to be said.

I've had some terrible nightmares like this,
William. They are not easy to shake, but in
the beautifully rendered verse here, you have
provided a measure of relief for yourself.
Wonder what ol Willy would have written about it?
He's one of those poet/singers I highly respect,
too.
