A beautiful woman once taught me to live,
Yet on the eve of her birth, I knew not what to give.

I've been lost in your grace from the grade of seven,
Transfixed by your smile, my first glimpse of heaven.

Still year after year comes more and more tears,
I wished there was hope, that one such as you was out there.

What could I give?

In the darkness in me, hardened by steel,
You caressed your way in and taught me to feel.

Taught me of true love, a caring that's real,
In my mother's scar, you taught me to heal.

No jewel could match the rapture found in your eyes,
No trip could bring you farther than this decadent high.

What could I give?

Your soft gentle touch could be cloned by no bear,
I'd need a gift made of loving, encrusted with care.

For none could accept this weak, tainted boy,
'Till you gave me your smile, held me with joy.

Showed me there was one other sacred and true ,
My gift is my word, and these are for you.
