an offering about moving on from unrequited emotions

A bitter taste
in my throat
you're salt
in my wound -
gaping
rubbed raw
cut to the quick
you
pull me tight to
you
crush me
to you
breathe in
tremulous sighs
eyes closed
feeling burning
skin sliding
falling down
intentions
fall away
stolen moments
I cannot keep
cannot allow

hope
for anything more
so why do I
continue
why do I
allow myself
to be used
crush me
to you
don't let me
breathe
you in
don't let me
breathe the words
that I don't mean
bind me in
my struggle
is useless
eerily appropriate
the melody
that cloys my memory
but I can't remember
why
I can't remember
the words
beauty in sorrow
misery in mercy
I push away from
you
pull closer still
in the silence
feel you shudder
and wonder
where your thoughts
stray
and though
I feel your warmth
I know that you
are not with me
you wandered away
and I am
alone
crushed.

This is one of the most heart-tugging romance poems
I have read in some time, and that says a lot, because
genius does indeed reside within The Den.
Yet another time, a poet has proven, that pain begets
wondrous words.
