How beautiful is silence
With all its innuendo
Of
Past, future
And
Now.

How poignant its wisdom
Of
Retrospect, summing up
And
Future happenstance
And
Tentative now.

How rare is
Solemn silence
Where Experience speaks
Uninterrupted
Where
Memory rises
To assertion
And
Hope and faith
Revive to breathe
Ego earns its place,
And
Love learns identity.

How lovely silence is
With all its prism
Of
Everything that may come
Through
Its open door
And
Leave by the same
With or without Permission
Or
Restraint.

This is definitely one of my favorites! (& I have read all of the ones currently posted) Wish I could have just hung out & had coffee with her or discussed poetry with her or had her as a professor! Do a book of her poetry Katie... do it... do it... even if it is Print on Demand... like iuniverse.com... which is very inexpensive... I will buy many copies! :-) Sincerely, Todd-Michael St. Pierre, in New Orleans!
