Sad Muse

The muse is easily depressed

leaving early

from the party

while the crowd loudly howled

amidst drunken stupors

in the foray

The muse avoids hangovers

like the plague

and foggy eyes

blur the view

Verdant though it is

and flowers bloom

no drunk can stand

The aroma

The wind whispers musically

fresh flowers her weakness

She’s the poets only mistress

and so jealous

She watches at the window

as the shadows play

and the door opens

She runs away

with nary a word

of explanation

The muse is sad

easily depressed

She’s disappointed

belonging to you

depressed phrasing

with nary a rhyme

and the crowd howls

The drunken muse is loud

obnoxiously she leers

with disgust in her eyes

She sees the shadows

are lovers

They slip sadly in the corners

as the door opens

and she laughs out loud

in mute sadness

The poet has forgotten

his pen and ink

It’s spilled and stained

and whispers are strained

The muse goes into depression

has a jealous rage

and you jot it down

hoping for one more phrase

just one stanza

to capture her love

The music plays in the background

while we listen

The muse has spoken

and she’s a jealous mistress

She’s a verdant green muse

and blooming

She’s flowered

in spring

and blossomed

She told me so

kissing me sweetly

and therein lies the ruse

She never whispered love

She howled it at me

She’s a sad muse

easily confused

Yes, a muse can be moody but, as Floria says, look at us. Thank you, Dale. Love and peace. Regis

Dale,
This is so creative crafted well from this jealous Muse.....
It is truly like this when we as poets leave and then after
we try to work that it becomes strained at times i really believe this .... Awesome piece you have created with this mistress muse.
