poem about a mom who through drug addiction killed her husbands daughter


she awoke at dawn
with lines on her face
"N" broke the mirror that betrays her
a razor hangs off a dirty vanity
yesterdays not coming back

ya know sometimes yesterdays death
becomes tomorrows path
but, ya didn't care
when you made the lines
to your childs death

does your heart rest after it kills?
her eyes look up in silence
"N" she gazes like her father
her eyes like one
when mom could not focus

when son was begging for you
did ya have to push him away?
silently he waits for you
such a long walk down a darkened hall
too see if it's you

a child rests in the hand
"N" another doctor lies weeping
caskets come in all shapes
did you take a second look?
she wasn't bigger than your hand

your lines will forever run deep
did ya remember?
yesterday is todays death
her picture holds your thought
the only memory you will keep.....
