Drugs, alchohol, & technology, all addictions...all hopefully beaten, well almost...

Another Addiction Beaten…

Yes, the herb I do; can stop when I want,

I no longer drink, never smoked, well cigarettes at least,

Sex, also an addiction & other related ones,

Well, I got past it all, without the help of anyone…

When my computer did die, for only a few days,

I felt the twang, the pain,

The addictive strain,

But it took only those two days,

Through strength of will,

I could have dealt with that too, not necessary, fortunately…

Television, another of my addictions, all related to technology,

Turned off my cable, my antenna does not receive,

So here I sit, with only my computer to the outside world, I perceive,

No more dramas of life & death, no more world news to make me sad,

But there are some things I miss,

The chance to hear of others that do conceive,

Happy news is nice, good for the soul, but bad news just makes me mad…

I want to have joy spread about others, and myself,

I am tired of hearing the worst about them,

I am tired of hearing the worst about the world, so,

No more TV till I find I can deal with it better,

Which may be quite actually never,

So great for me, as long as I have videos,

I only see what I want to see,

Such an idyllic life I lead, here in my addiction free cocoon…

If more people only watched the positive things on TV the media would change. Until that happens, I too watch very little of it. Thanks for the sharing :-)

Good for you Ed...I applaud you...some people
just seem to have an addictive personality..
I know a few close to me that do...It must be
difficult for them...this was nice...very
touching...floria
