The regret of the egrets
is time wasted in flight ...
with white wings extended
in the soft, fading light.
Losing their instincts,
they went far astray.

The regret of the egrets
was no time to play.
Cocoons of feathers
wonít help them today.
With wide wings extended,
they flounder in frost, light.

Without any regrets,
they surrender, donít fight,
in the sweet afterglow.
Cradled by twilight
those huge, once mighty, egrets,
fly heavenly skies.

I love egrets; and I love this beautiful write! Thanks so much for sharing! (We see them here in North Texas a time or two; they are neat to see!)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

This is a very good write, Sandra! The imagery is well done, too. I wonder, though: "those huge, once might egrets," if you meant "mighty" in that line? ~~BonnieQ
