Finding what you lost while addicted

It seems each day I feel better mentally. I feel more like doing things. I have to remember that when the pain becomes overbearing, that's the time that I need to do something to get my mind off the pain.  It's not good to sit around and dwell on it.  I've always enjoyed working with wood, but through my addiction that was all lost.  Now, that I have stopped taking the pain medications, those lost enjoyments are now coming back to me.  I have so much to look forward to now.  I have never had any formal training in wood working, but through trial and error, once in a while I can make a pretty good piece.  My working with wood gives me a feeling of accomplishment, and I believe that's the key for people in chronic pain, is to get your mind off the pain by doing something you enjoy.  So each day gets better and better mentally.  I appreciate you taking the time to read my stories.  God Bless you in all that you do.
